Yahoo 360 social network to close in July

CBR Staff Writer Published 02 June 2009

Part of strategy to reprioritise some products

Almost two years back, Yahoo first announced its plans to phase out Yahoo 360. But this time the company has finally decided to close it on July 13.

In a blog post, Melissa Daniels, community manager of Yahoo, said: “the company had delayed closing Yahoo 360 until it could find a way for members to preserve their data. They will now be able to either export it into their Yahoo profiles or to a blogging platform like WordPress or Blogger.”

She also mentioned that the closure is part of a larger strategy of reprioritising some products.

Yahoo 360 was launched in March 2005 as a social network service. Last summer, the company has also phased out its other social networking site, Yahoo Mash.
