The search engine offers content on mobile phones

Mobile search engine Taptu has deployed communications provider Esendex’s SMS network to enable the users send and receive content via text messages.
Registered in the UK and the US, Taptu is a newly launched free search engine that offers music videos, images, blog entries, and news stories to mobile phone users. Taptu is accessible worldwide in English, Spanish, Italian, French and German.

Esendex provides Taptu with a bulk-messaging package and ensures guaranteed delivery. Headquartered in Nottingham, Esendex delivers SMS, MMS, voice and location services to businesses.

Lynsey Tucker, head of commercial at Taptu, said: Enabling consumers to not only find entertainment super-fast but to be able to share it with their friends is proving very popular with our users. But our users demand that what they share will be received, so it’s essential we have a confidence in our SMS partner. We chose Esendex as it has direct links to the five major UK mobile operators and the service is proven, reliable and effective.

Adam Bird, managing director at Esendex, said: It is great to work with Taptu who are at the forefront of utilising the social mobile media space. We ensure the back end system works well to give users an enjoyable experience of sharing content via services such as SMS.

As well as mobile consumers, mobile publishers, portals and social networks can avail of Taptu’s service through a suite of customisable search engine APIs. Earlier in November, mobile community Itsmy.com has selected Taptu to provide its community of over two million users with search service, and access to web content.
