Skype begins video messaging trial

Each video message can be up to three minutes long and the feature can be opted through 'plus' button in Skype apps on supported systems

Skype has started trialling a video messaging service that allows users to send recorded video messages to their friends which will play when they come online.

Users with the latest version of Skype for Mac, Android or iOS can currently send video messages, while Skype users on other platforms are being offered 20 free messages over the next three months to trial the new service.

According to All Things D, the video messaging service will be available to Window users by the end of April.

"Users in these markets across all Windows desktop and mobile platforms can receive messages, too," spokesman said. We will have send capability in Windows by end of April."

Skype's new video messaging service is being offered in several countries including the US and the UK.
