Novell, a provider of Intelligent Workload Management, has introduced Vibe Cloud, a secure, real-time, Web-based social collaboration platform for the enterprise.

The Vibe Cloud is Web-based tool that combines real-time co-authoring, social messaging, and file sharing with the security IT needs.

The new offering is offered as an online service and comes in two editions -- basic, with all the functionality needed to demonstrate proof-of-value, and enterprise, which offers additional security features, management controls and premium support.

The offerings also come with the desktop-to-cloud two way file synchronisation, email integration and editing tools with the basic version, while the enterprise edition includes: organisational management console; federated authentication and single-sign on; unlimited groups; more storage; and data ownership.

Novell collaboration solutions and global services senior vice-president and general manager Colleen O'Keefe said Vibe Cloud is an innovative product that brings together social and real-time communications with Novell's rich history in collaboration tools.

"This fast, secure and easy-to-use offering gives the user, and the business, a tool they want to work in along with the flexibility and control they need to be both protected and productive," O'Keefe said.
