Google is planning to construct a new office campus beside its Silicon Valley headquarters at the Santa Clara County in California, US.

The campus will spread across a 42 acre area which was rented by the company from NASA under a 40-year for an initial base rent of $3.66m per year.

A Google spokesman said: "We are beginning construction on our new Bayview Campus, which is a key to our growth and another sign of our commitment to the area."

The company is expected to build nine buildings connected by bridges on about to 1.1 million square feet of land, which will include offices and research facilities in a campus-style setting.

In 2012, the company reported to have 37,544 employees across the globe which grew from 20,222 employees in 2008.
