Facebook to introduce redesigned Newsfeed on 07 March

CBR Staff Writer Published 04 March 2013

The company is planning to revamp its homepage.

Facebook is planning to introduce a new look for its popular 'Newsfeed' on 07 March to its 1 billion member network.

The introduction of the revamped 'Newsfeed' comes as a second major step during 2013, after the launch of its social search feature, known as 'graph search'.

The section incorporates an ever-changing stream of the photos, videos and comments uploaded from a user's network of friends and is claimed to be one of the three pillars of the web service together with search and user profiles.

In September 2011, the company released a major update to its Newsfeed, allowing promoted ads to appear in user's feeds.

The company has increasingly becoming strong in mobile, doubling in mobile revenues in Q4 2012 and beating analyst expectations.

Mobile users exceeded desktop users for the frist time in Q4 2012.

Mobile Facebook users have exceeded desktop users for the first time in Q4 2012.

The increase is good news for Facebook who had once told investors that mobile was a particularly weak spot for the company.

Mobile revenue represented nearly a quarter of all advertising revenue for the fourth quarter, up 14% of advertising revenue in the previous quarter.

The company also launched Facebook for Android 2.0 and opened Facebook messenger to anyone with a mobile phone number.
